FAQs
About MIIRA
-
MIIRA offers curated, insider-led experiences in Greece for women. Our trips sit in the stage of life between youth travel and later life travel, and are designed for women who want a real taste of Greece as it is truly lived. Expect beautiful stays, long meals, local producers, boat days, active days in nature, and slow moments enjoying the culture and landscape.
-
Our guests are typically in their 30s, 40s and 50s, though we don’t define the experience by age, only by attitude. Whether you’re coming with friends or arriving solo, we’d love to have you.
-
Not at all. Many women come solo and leave with new friendships. Our groups are intentionally small to keep the experience intimate and enjoyable.
-
To ensure every experience is intimate, flexible, and genuinely social, we aim for groups of between 12-18 guests.
-
Yes. We offer private experiences for groups of 10 or more guests (including family and friends of all ages). Perfect for milestone celebrations, we’ll design a bespoke trip for your group drawing on our insider knowledge for a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

Getting to Greece
-
You do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in the Schengen Area (which includes Greece). Always check your government’s travel advice before departure.
-
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date and issued within the last 10 years.
-
Most international travellers arrive via Athens International Airport (ATH), although you can fly direct to some islands in high season. We recommend Skyscanner as a no-cost flight planner, to help plan your trip.
From Athens, you can reach the islands by plane or ferry.
Domestic airlines operating within Greece are Aegean Airlines and Sky Express.
Major ferry companies are Blue Star Ferries, Seajets and Hellenic Seaways. We recommend Ferryscanner to compare options, although you can often pick up a deal booking directly through the ferry companies online.
-
We recommend that you arrive in Athens at least one day before your trip begins, to ensure a smooth transfer to your trip destination.
Travelling in Greece
-
Yes, especially on mainland Greece and on major islands where tourism is well-established.
-
Greece uses the Euro (€).
-
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Greece, and ATMs are widely available. We highly recommend carrying cash for the duration of your trip, as some suppliers or experiences may not accept card payments.
It is preferable to use ATMs attached to major banks, and opting to pay in Euros rather than your own currency.
-
A SIM or eSIM is usually the easiest and cheapest option for phone/data access while travelling.
For SIM, local Greek providers are Cosmote, Vodafone Greece and Wind.
Popular eSIM providers are Holafly and Airalo.
Otherwise, check with your provider about international roaming costs.
-
Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all MIIRA trips.
It should cover (at least):
Medical expenses
Trip cancellations
Lost luggage
Emergency evacuation
-
Hospitals, medical clinics and pharmacies are widely available on all destinations MIIRA visits.
Should you require medical assistance for an emergency, the local number is 112. MIIRA will assist you in the unlikely event of an emergency.
